So I had a garage sale today and made basically no money at all ($35) I'm planning on selling my american girl dolls on Ebay though and I've seen that people get 85 dollars - 100 dollars on those so I'm hoping to get a similar amount xD. At the moment I have about $2,200. (This is big for me because at the beginning of the summer I had about $1,400. I've basically raised all this money by myself as well. I think I got about 100 dollars for my birthday and other than that (700 dollars) I've made this summer by working at the library and babysitting. I feel that every one should work for their money because I think that I am definitely going to try as hard as I can to have a good time when I go and work hard at adjusting to the new environment partly because I'm working so hard to get there. So basically this was just an update on my money situation ^_^ Not very interesting, again, I know :P But - something new! lol
Hiya everyone!
So obviously this isn't going to be quite too exciting because I still have over a year until I am, hopefully, going to start my exchange year. At first I was looking at going with AFS and I was very stubborn on switching to Rotary. I really wanted to stay with one host family and have a really good chance at both going and going to my first choice country, Italy. When my parents told me that there was no way that I could go if I didn't NOT go with Rotary I changed my mind. I figured that going was more important than going with a certain organization ^^ So that's how I ended up choosing Rotary. There's still the chance that I won't be able to go - and/or I won't be able to go to Italy but there's more of a chance now!
My first choice country is Italy for many reasons! First of all my family is from Italy. Both of my mothers, fathers parents were born in Italy. I think it would be really cool to go back to where my ancestors live and experience the culture that they grew up with. I also really like the idea of going to Italy because I love the Italian language. I also love the emphasis they seem to have on family and friends. Lastly the art and architecture and landscape attracted me to Italy. Italy is an absolutely beautiful country, physically. My other country choices are Iceland (although I don't know if Rotary offers it), Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Chile. However I don't know what order my second to seventh choices are in :)
I've finished my application and host family letter and now all I have to do is get my doctor, dentist, and guidance counselor to fill out their forms. It should be no sweat ^_^ I've already sent the forms to my doctor and dentist - however I'm holding off on my guidance counselor because he doesn't work during the summer. I'm hoping to hand in my application as early as possible so that I have an even better chance at getting the one spot that is open from my Rotary District ^^ That's right they only send one person a year so I have to show them that I REALLY want this :)
I've already met the people who will be interviewing me because they came to our house to interview us because we're hosting next year! They're very nice and hopefully already getting to meet me once and seeing what I'm like, a little, will help them see that I'm the one they should send! lol *crosses fingers* We're hosting a girl from Germany named Deike. I'm beyond excited! She likes to ride horses and ski and she seems like a really nice person. She's my age but I don't know if she'll be a senior or a junior yet. She's coming on August 17th and we've already set up her room! I've been talking to her on MSN and she's told me over and over again that she's really excited to come so I'm glad that she's so happy!
Sorry if this has been boring lol - Hopefully I'll be getting some more exciting news soon that I'll be able to post here!
xoxo
